Last year was a game changer for me, personally and professionally.
As I reflect on the past year and celebrate entering my 14th year in business, I’m filled with gratitude and awe at how far we’ve come. It’s been a year of growth, challenges, and lessons that have shaped my vision for the future.
To be honest, these last two years since the pandemic have been the hardest for me, personally, as I work to understand what success and happiness look like. I’ve had this business since I was 19 and I LOVE what I do. But owning a small business is HARD. These last two years have been the hardest.
I started 2024 in Hawaii, where I first began my photography journey. This full-circle experience reminded me of the power of intention and staying true to our passions.
It was a necessary reset on life. A reminder of why I started and where I came from.
Hawaii gave me a clear path out of the fog.
In my 13th year I accomplished 2 big goals:
- I opened my Second Studio, Siren City Studios, a Norfolk Photography and Videography Rental Studio for artists looking to grow
- I taught TWO Sold Out Classes in Maui. Teaching other boudoir photographers how to create with intention and build a couples boudoir experience that transcends the photoshoot was such an honor.
But these big milestones couldn’t have been achieved without a lot of support, learning, and growth in the process.
I realized my limitations and areas where I needed to grow, not just as an entrepreneur, but as as a leader, a friend, a wife, a mother, and just ME.
I feel REALLY good about this year. And when I say that, I mean it in my heart of hearts.
Year 13 tested me in every way. I am thankful for it.
Growth is messy. You have to be willing to get dirty, make mistakes, hold yourself accountable, and change behaviors that do not align with your best self.
