The decision to have a boudoir session is a very personal one, and nobody can decide when you are ready but YOU.

Miss A first inquired about a boudoir session when her friends, Miss L and Miss R, came down from Richmond for a boudoir session in our Downtown Norfolk studio. She championed them on through their own unique experiences, hyping them up and celebrating with them.

She loved their images, and it was from then that idea to have a boudoir session for herself was planted.

 

Six years passed by us in the blink of an eye.

We kept in touch over the years through social media. We bonded through our love of feminism and hatred of capitalism and the patriarchy. I have loved watching her rise through her career and just kill it as a single mom to her twin boys. I have such a soft spot for outspoken, intelligent, and bold women and I love when I meet my people.

When I received the email saying that she was finally ready for a session, I was beyond ecstatic!

Her Boudoir experience was for her. As it should be.

She is at a time in her life where she is truly loving her body, the physical changes she has been working hard on, the personal growth and development that she has committed to, and exploring her sexuality and finding power through that sensual self exploration.

 

It was time.

Why did you decide that you wanted to do a boudoir session with LeZandra?

I’ve been following LeZandra on IG for years, and many of my close friends are her clients. After a few years of getting in shape (physically and emotionally), I decided it was finally time to have my own session.

What made you decide to hire me as your photographer?

Your aesthetic is basically the same as mine!

I’ll admit, I have a love for anything black, covered in spikes, and a little bit extra 😘

How were you feeling before your shoot? Any thoughts going through your head?

Not really, but having friends who are both professional photographers and clients of yours meant I knew what to expect from the beginning, and I’m not a shy person.

 

I absolutely LOVE that she had friends who have worked with me before, because it really takes some of the unfamiliarity out of the experience. Finding a boudoir photographer that you feel comfortable enough to be naked around is SUCH a personal experience. I love that we were able to get to really know each other and connect before her session, because it allowed us to dive a bit deeper into where she is at in life.

Ultimately, my desire if for you to have a boudoir session that represents YOU at your core.

Your strength, your confidence, your beauty, your sensuality. You are capable of expressing all of these emotions!!! But it often takes the right guide to allow you the safe space to feel vulnerable to express without feeling judged or self critical.

A boudoir session is such a great tool for self exploration because it allows you to explore a wide range of emotions that we often keep hidden. Accessing these emotions through posing, and feeling empowered through it, allows us to better connect with these feelings. It allows us to more freely express them.

There is power in completely owning your sensuality and having the freedom to choose how you express it.

 

How did you feel about having your hair and makeup done?

It was great! I was shocked at how I looked with straight-ish hair.

Now that you’ve had your own photo shoot, how was it?

Super fun, and surprisingly exhausting. I went to bed at 8:30.

 

I always joke that a boudoir session is essentially yoga in lingerie. While the boudoir poses look so natural and comfortable, sometimes the arching and toe pointing necessary to get into these beautiful poses can be uncomfortable. Most people do not walk around with their chest pushed to the sky, so a couple of hours of this can be surprisingly tiring!

What would you say to someone considering doing a boudoir shoot?

Have an idea for what kind of vibe you want before you get there!

 

I LOVE this advice! We knew we wanted to honor both the submissive and dominant energies during this session. I love the attention to detail that she had when selecting her outfits, because they allowed us to really channel these vibes during her session.

Miss A has found a lot of power in exploring the BDSM dynamics and it was important that we represented that in her session!

Is there anything I could do that would make this experience completely perfect?

Can’t think of anything, it was great.
