Healing Through Boudoir – Ms T’s Self Love Journey
“I picked up my album today and it’s hard to put into words how amazing this experience was for me from the very beginning.”
From the first phone call I had— I knew there was something special about LeZandra.
I had been interested in doing a boudoir shoot for some time, but after seeing my friend Laura’s pictures, I immediately booked a session with LeZandra.
Like everyone, the last 2 years have been hard for me but I’ve been going through a really rough time medically and I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been with the exception of being pregnant.
I’ve gone from being a rather competitive healthy athlete to being legitimately ill.
For some reason, I knew that this was the time to do this for me— to embrace me and my body for what it is, not what it used to be, and accept that I may not get better— but I will continue to fight to be the healthiest version of me— physically, mentally, and spiritually— no matter what it LOOKS like on the outside.
This experience was such an investment in myself and my words just do not do LeZandra justice.
These pictures are just part of the experience.
From the welcoming environment and how comfortable I felt, to the quality and attention to detail this woman puts into every aspect of her business— I’m speechless.
Thank you so much. This experience was worth every single dollar and it’s not just “some pictures.”
I’m just blown away.”

Every single person on this planet has or will learn the importance of self love. Learning to love ourselves comes easier to some than it does for others. We each have our own hurdles to overcome. And anyone that has experienced a chronic illness can attest to their illness forcing itself into their self love journey.
As someone who struggles with Arnold Chiari Malformation, I can relate to the importance of self love through a chronic illness in so many ways. There is a unique battle that chronic illness inflicts upon us that threatens to implode the intimate connection that we have with ourselves. When you lose trust in your body, you start to doubt every aspect of yourself.
Healing Through Boudoir – A Self Love Journey
Our bodies are meant to evolve as we do. But when illness enters your life and alters your view of yourself, it can be hard to find love in the new normal. This change, that you didn’t ask for, was thrust upon you and you have to adjust to a new way of living and viewing yourself.
Importance of Self Love Through Illness
Women have the unique ability to metaphorically perform an impressive juggling act with some of life’s most difficult challenges. Historically and even in present day, women have demonstrated time and time again that we are resilient and resourceful. We may stumble and we may fall but we are relentless in our pursuits.
We have no other choice, we are the fabric that weaves all together. It is because of this that self care must be a non-negotiable.
However, this does not diminish the weight of these challenges. It’s almost as if we have gotten accustomed to the juggling act and become numb to the amount of challenges that are thrown into the mix. Moms are great at this. It is as though a primal instinct kicks in once we are responsible for an entire human beings survival in this world.
We intuitively put this responsibility above all others even to the detriment of ourselves.
Looking back on my life, there have been many significant events that have influenced my self love journey in one way or another. During pregnancy, I was fascinated with the immense power that I felt knowing that my body was growing a tiny human. Although pregnancy altered my body physically, internally I was amazed with my newfound appreciation for my body.
When the symptoms of my chronic illness became too unbearable for me to ignore, I sought out answers from my doctors. Although a diagnosis helped to put a name to the symptoms, I have to admit that I felt a sense of betrayal. This vessel that I had admired became a shell that I resented. The illness had too much control over my body and dictated limitations that I was not prepared or willing to address.
Ms T is Learning to Love Herself by Healing Through Boudoir
Photography began as a hobby while I was in college. Each photo that I take captures a moment in time and there is always a story behind each moment. Because of photography I have had the privilege to capture these moments, these stories. These experiences have impacted my life in more ways than I could describe.
“From the first phone call I had— I knew there was something special about LeZandra.”
As a sex therapist in training and psychology major in college it has always been a passion of mine to help others. As a boudoir photographer, I have seen the impact that a boudoir session has on my clients. I feel so honored to guide others on this journey of self love through boudoir. Meeting Ms T was fulfilling in so many ways!
Ms T is also a mom who was in need of filling up her tank. It was time for her to put herself first. To connect with herself outside of being a mother and to tap into her inner self. Simultaneously, she was also battling the demons of a chronic illness. Struggling to find herself and connect with who she is in this moment. Watching her body change beyond her control, in a way that changed her life, left her feeling massively disconnected from herself.
A couple years ago, Ms T was a competitive, healthy athlete. Suddenly she found herself juggling a rough medical condition. Extremely ill, she struggled to fully love herself. Going through my own similar battle, I related with Ms T on a deeply personal level. As a photographer, I was immediately drawn to Ms T’s strengths. Even though I related so much with Ms T’s story, as an outsider I was instantly aware of the many attributes that make Ms T so unique.
The ability to carry through life as though nothing is wrong, when your whole world is shifting as you know it, requires an immense amount of strength and determination.
Ms T saw first hand the transformation that Ms L had when she reconnected with her sensuality during her boudoir session. And working through her own self esteem issues through body changes from her illness, she made the liberating decision to book her own boudoir session!
Healing Through Boudoir – Embrace the Journey
There is something about booking your boudoir session that is so hard to articulate. Each of us have our own journeys to travel in life and there are decisions along the way that are life changing. Sometimes we are aware of the immense impact these decisions will have on our lives. Other times, they are fleeting moments in time that are only genuinely appreciated in hindsight.
It wasn’t until after, when she was able to see herself again, that she realized the power of this experience.
“This experience was such an investment in myself and my words just do not do LeZandra justice.”
During Ms T’s boudoir session, I not only watched her embrace herself but I also felt a personal attachment to her transformation. She let go of the past ideas of who she should be and embraced her present, preparing herself for the journey ahead. Ms T is such a great example of the power of healing through boudoir!
“For some reason, I knew that this was the time to do this for me— to embrace me and my body for what it is, not what it used to be, and accept that I may not get better— but I will continue to fight to be the healthiest version of me— physically, mentally, and spiritually— no matter what it LOOKS like on the outside.”
She showed up, stripped down to her rawest form, and embraced the beautiful bad ass that she is! I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Ms T! I am honored to have captured her self love journey. And I am so excited to share with you how boudoir is self love and how boudoir can help you embrace and celebrate YOU!
