Photography has been a passion of mine since my husband bought me my first camera last week.
My husband had to put the camera on a credit card, and so I am making this a business to pay it off!
I have a very professional camera. It is a Nikon D3000 and it was really expensive.
I have a very professional kit lens that goes with it!
I am still learning how to use it, but putting it in Auto mode helps me take the best photos to capture your memories.
Because I am just starting out, I am only charging 10 dollars. You get all of your images on a disk for this price!
I capture your precious moments for a very cheap price because I don’t know what I am doing yet.
Why pay other photographers hundreds of dollars and only get prints!
Just because they invest in thousands of dollars worth of equipment, editing software, marketing and advertising expenses, pay taxes, hire an accountant and lawyer, and have liability insurance just incase somebody gets hurt during the session does not mean they should charge so much!
Another reason why I charge so little is because this is just a hobby of mine. My main goal is to capture your memories and precious moments.
I describe my shooting style as photojournalistic.
I hold the camera at extreme angles because it is artistic.
I will edit all of your photos with selective coloring because it is aesthetically pleasing.
I use a professional photo editing software called picnik.
Most of my sessions take place at noon because I like the way the shadows hide your face.
I only do sessions on base because I want to bring my boys with me to your session. All of my sessions take place at the same location because I like consistency.

Captured Memories Butterfly Sky Pony is such a great name. It’ll look great on a business card.
LOL, I think I have seen something similar floating around. It is pretty insane. I also love when people tell you that “your camera takes such great pictures!”
I have seen your camera and it takes great snapshots! There is only one thing wrong with this…there are no spelling errors. You must be high tech and use spell check. (BTW you made my coffee come out my nose :p)
I think I have an aversion to misspellings. I should have included some, huh? Next time 🙂

I completely agree with you, though, and it’s weird when they ask you for technical advice, you help them, and then they try to recreate exact photos you’ve done. Can you tell this has happened to me? LOL! I feel torn because I want to help aspiring photographers but I feel like I’m being taken advantage of sometimes.
Anyway…just love this particular blog post because it’s so honest. And true!
You know, I used to go out and show people how to shoot. I helped them choose their camera and pick out lenses. I sowed them how to use them.I even showed them my exact editing workflow.
And then they opened up business and started undercutting me.
I stopped going out of my way to help, but I still offer advice.
