When I was 14, my mom asked what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I told her I planned on becoming a sex therapist.
Let me backtrack for a moment…
I was raised in a rather conservative family. My dad was in the military, serving has his father and father in law did. My mother worked various jobs here and there, depending on our duty station and school schedule. We were raised Catholic and like many religious families, sexuality was a taboo subject.
So when I responded to my mom, I am sure she rolled her eyes and dismissed this as another one of my attempts to give her a heart attack. I was, and still am, quite the rebellious one 😉
But the desire never left.
I received my Psychology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a therapist dedicated to helping her clients navigate sexual traumas and overcome sexual blocks and shame.
Enter photography…
Boudoir Photography has been the most welcome “distraction” and I have been honored to work with HUNDREDS of women these last 10 years.
Sex therapy and boudoir photography have quite a lot in common.
For starters, we get DEEP.
The process of stripping down is such a vulnerable one, and when you have experienced sexual trauma or the many conflicting messages on sexuality that we have shoved down our throats, it’s no surprise that many tears are shed when you begin to uncover these parts of yourself that you have kept hidden.
Sex is beautiful. It is raw. It is powerful. It has the power to break and the power to transform.
OWNING your sexuality is such a powerful experience.
When you own your pleasure, your vulnerability, and own definition of self love you become an unstoppable force of a human being.
It is through knowing and understanding ourselves and our potential that we gain the confidence to take charge of our lives.
I am SOOO excited to be able to offer Sex Coaching to our clients and the Hampton Roads area!
