Hi, I'm LeZandra

Sometimes you have to put some Lana Del Rey on the speaker, get your girls together, and just create for the sake of creation.

Throughout the year I get these ideas of things to try but they stay on the creative back burner.

I had been wanting to try some old Hollywood Glamour inspired lighting set ups. Between the dramatic styling, the elegant client closet and thrift store finds, and the bold lighting, it had me feeling creatively invigorated!

This past weekend, during a rare moment of quiet between sessions and business strategy, I got to tap into one of my favorite creative rituals: thrifting. My daughter was home for Thanksgiving, and like we always do, we ventured out to hunt for treasures. It’s a tradition, but for me, it’s more than that—it’s a creative reset.

There’s something magical about the chaos of thrifting. Digging through racks and shelves, scanning for that one piece that stands out. The thrill of discovery isn’t just about finding a good deal—it’s about finding something unique, something that sparks joy and creativity.

As a teenager, I used to scour thrift stores and antique shops in Arkansas, where I grew up. Back then, finding clothes in my size was a challenge, so I’d look for other gems—vintage leather handbags, ornate mirrors, or antique trays. These one-of-a-kind pieces always felt special, like they were just waiting to have new life brought into them!

Fast forward to now, and thrifting has become an integral part of my process as a creative entrepreneur. I’m always on the lookout for pieces I can bring into the studio—killer heels, leather jackets, belts I can transform into harnesses. It’s not just about the items themselves; it’s about what they can become.

This weekend, I found myself staring at a pair of patent thigh-high boots, unsure if I should get them. They were bold, edgy, and perfect for the studio. But they were a 6.5 and that’s a smaller size than most clients.

My daughter, with her teenage wisdom, said, “Mom, you have to get those.” And let me tell you, she was so right. Those boots became the star of an impromptu playdate in the studio, paired with a $4.95 rhinestone slip I found in Arkansas years ago. Together, they created a look that was Hollywood glam with an edge—everything I love about boudoir.

But here’s the thing: this process isn’t just about clothes or photoshoots. It’s about balance.

As a creative entrepreneur, I live in a constant push and pull. Creativity demands chaos, play, flexibility, and an openness to change. It’s messy, unpredictable, and exhilarating. On the other hand, business thrives on structure, systems, and consistency. To be successful, I have to dance between these two worlds—one moment embracing the wild energy of creation, and the next tightening the screws on my processes to keep things running smoothly.

This ebb and flow is exhausting sometimes, but it’s also what keeps me alive. Thrifting, playing with new lighting techniques, and creating something new out of old treasures remind me why I started this journey in the first place. They pull me back into the joy of it all.

So, to my fellow creatives and entrepreneurs, I ask: how do you navigate this dance? How do you find the balance between structure and chaos, between the demands of business and the magic of creativity?

Oh, and in case you were wondering—those boots? Chef’s kiss.
