When I think about the women I have had the honor of photographing, I think about warriors. I think about artists, about survivors, about the ones who refuse to let the world define their beauty, their worth, or their power.
Today, I’m sharing a glimpse into the story of Miss S — a badass alternative model, momma, body piercer, and pure force of creativity and self-expression.
Choosing Her Path: Miss S’s Preventative Double Mastectomy
Miss S discovered she carried a high-risk gene for breast cancer.
Rather than waiting for life to happen to her, she chose to take control of her story.
She made the powerful decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy, having witnessed the devastating impact breast cancer had already left on her family.
That decision?
It was an act of radical self-love. It was ownership. It was embodiment in its purest form.
Boudoir Photography Before and After Mastectomy: Honoring Every Stage
As a boudoir photographer for breast cancer survivors in Norfolk and Hampton Roads, I have been honored to document some of the most transformational moments of a woman’s life.
Many women come to me before their mastectomy to honor and celebrate their bodies exactly as they are — creating a powerful memory and a love letter to the vessel that has carried them through so much.
Then, months later — sometimes years later — they return.
And we create a second chapter together:
Celebrating their new body. Their resilience. Their rebirth.
Boudoir photography before and after mastectomy is not just a session — it’s a healing ritual.
It’s a declaration that your beauty, your sensuality, your power are not tied to one version of your body — they live inside you, always.
Your Body, Your Journey: Boudoir as Healing for Breast Cancer Survivors
If you are newly diagnosed with breast cancer in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, or anywhere across Hampton Roads — I want you to hear this:
You are not powerless.
You have a choice.
You get to define your healing journey. You get to define your femininity. You get to define your sensuality.
Choosing to document your journey — whether before surgery, after surgery, or both — is a way to root yourself in your own power.
It’s a way to honor where you’ve been, and boldly claim where you are going.
Boudoir for breast cancer survivors is not about hiding scars.
It’s about celebrating the map of where you have traveled — and where you are yet to go.
