Hey Ladies!
With the holidays quickly approaching I have been scheming about something to do for my girls.
Now, before I go into the details I want to give you a little back story.
Last December, my husband and I were facing the end of our first deployment.
I wanted to do something really amazing for him for his homecoming. But the problem was…
I have always been very self conscious.
Growing up, I was constantly made fun of for my large bum and my huge hips. I felt ginormous compared to my tiny friends. I spent most of my evenings looking in a mirror and just crying. I hated how I looked and I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t just be pretty. I would have traded my brains for beauty any day.
I would like to say that things changed when I got older, but it didn’t.
Throughout college I struggled with being bigger as I watched my gorgeous friends with the perfect bodies looking so happy. There were so many nights where I would again sit in front of a mirror and cry. And when I started facing a serious medical condition, I gave up completely. I told myself that I will never be beautiful or even decent looking and that was just how it was going to be.
While I never got comfortable with my body, I am slowly starting to accept it.
One catalyst in my journey for self acceptance was taking a burlesque class.
I have always loved burlesque. But I never had the confidence to show any part of my body off.
However, when I saw the performers from the Norfolk Institute of Burlesque up on stage in front of a crowd oozing confidence I pushed myself.
There I was, topless and twirling tassels on my boobs. Did I ever think I would do this? Hell no!
Never in a million years would I have ever dreamed that I would have the confidence to show off a part of myself that I truly and deeply hate (I have serious body image issues when it comes to my breasts).
But instead of seeing every single flaw, I saw joy and happiness and confidence! Which for me is something that NEVER happens. Rather than focusing on all of the negative things about my body I looked around the room and I was amazed by just how happy and confident all of the women were. We were not all perfect. There were women of all shapes and sizes. And what amazed me was that even though we felt our flaws they were completely obscured by the light that shown so very brightly from within.
It was the glow of confidence. And boy did I have it.
Immediately after the class I called my sister to tell her about how empowered I felt. I made such a huge step along the path of self love. I was slowly unraveling the bonds of self hatred and it made me feel beautiful for the first time in my life.
Now, about the burlesque!
I want to invite you to join me in this experience. You do not have to schedule a boudoir session with me, but I would love you to feel the beauty that can be gained from a burlesque class.
The lovely Lily Liqueur has agreed to teach the class especially for my girls.
Classes will be held on Sunday November 4th at the Venue in Norfolk. The price is $25 for this amazing experience. Space is limited to 10 girls.
If you have had a boudoir session with me in the past I invite you to come! I also HIGHLY encourage those looking to have a session with me to come as well! It will be an amazing experience that can help you get more comfortable with your body. And Lily has the amazing ability to help bring out your inner bombshell. She can help you discover what facial expressions turn you into a temptress and help you discover how to emphasize all of your gorgeous curves.
And on top of that, I will be answering any questions you may have about your session! You will also have the chance to get to know me a bit better and get clued in on how a session with me works.

I’m so sorry Tomise!!! This was posted 3 years ago!
I’m super interested in classes And I know this post is really old but I was wondering if you knew any current classes in the area.
Hey Candyce!
I am not sure but I can do some digging for you! I know the two amazing ladies who ran the classes have since moved out of the area. However, Richmond has a very active Burlesque scene!
